The Inquest!
The Inquest is supposed to be an inquiry to ascertain...Who died, where they died and how they died.
It is not expected to go into any detail and should not be contentious and never apportion blame!
(According to our justice system that is! but they make the rules!)
You are expecting to hear the truth of what really happened to your loved one. Your legal team are saying... "we will get to ask all your questions at the inquest"
Heres what really happens...
After the coroners officer opened the inquest, I was made to give an account of Lee's life against my wishes, 'because this is normal!'. I would much rather have had my opprotunity to speak about my son, his life and the person he truely was, at the end when everyone else had finished portraying him as a person I didnt recognise.
Next there is a list already compiled by the coroner as to who goes next and he has already got skeleton drafts of the questions the leagal teams have prepared in advance, so he knows what to expect and its almost 'rehearsed'.
The important people like the nurse who was first on the scene and paramedics who tried recusitating Lee wasnt called to attend as they 'wasnt medical experts'!
Instead a nurse is called to give his over all opinion who wasnt even in attendance the night in question. His only reason as to why Lee was never monitored during his stay at the establishment was because they didnt have the relevant forms!
The officer first on the scene admitted he filled his log books before conducting his checks on the inmates, so timing was out! he also failed to call for paramedics immediately.
Another senior officer arrives and spends time picking Lee up by his arm and banging his head on the floor twice...rather than checking for a pulse and performing CPR!
He then takes the sheet in question to cover the hatch of a neighbouring cell to prevent inmates seeing onto the wing.
Lee is then left on the landing floor for some 6+ hours and officers are stepping over him all night, carrying out their checks. Because the police want to 'preserve evidence'.
Theres no forensics done on the sheet and the timing of Lee's alarm on his watch 8.18pm..was irrelevant too!
The barrister working for you, does not ask questions you want answers to and misses vital information from documents! You now know everyone is working to a seperate agenda to you!
Your legal team advise putting questions to the jury for the verdict and they are all on the same subject of 'detoxification'. No mention of mental health...Of course all happy people mentally stable do drugs!
The coroner then puts questions to the jury that he chooses...including the question was a letter I wrote to Lee a factor in his death?? I told Lee that I loved him and would always be there for him, but he needed to sort his life out!
The jury agreed it was a factor. They also decided that Lee had no mental health issues, even though he was first prescribed anti-depressants in Brinsford when he was a juvenile! (not to mention a 3yr history on heroin) Going back to the begining...the mental health was excluded as it would have been CONTENTIOUS there would have been more question about the lack of care and monitoring! To top it all off my letter was a factor...APPORTIONĀ blame! Apparently his detox was adequate, there is supposed to be a period of Stabilisation then detox followed by after care... two weeks on subutex (rapid detox) NO stabilisation NO after care....NEGLEGENCE....There was no evidence to suggest he intended to die, the verdict..'Accidental'!.... What else could they say....?????? I rest my case!
Get all your questions answered before the inquest...
Get a good solicitor you trust have faith in and that actually listens to you or sack them get another!
I did my first solicitor had no intentions of getting me any information before the inquest and didnt understand what I was saying about Lee, she like the police had already given the verdict suicide!
Demand full disclosure...
Notes, documents medical notes from prison and from GP. Ask PPO to keep you upto speed, they are more than happy to! ask police questions over and over till you are satisfied they are doing their job! get scene of crime photos, I did it wasnt easy but so helpful as you can see how things are fit up later!
Visit prison ask to see log books, cctv, meet staff inmates. View the cell.
DONT WAIT TILL THE INQUEST! you will be seriously dissappointed!
If you would be a real
seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things.
